Application receiving agency: the body that recommends a candidate to the CSC

An application receiving agency is the body that an applicant reaches for a recommendation in the Chinese Government Scholarship application process. It submits the recommended candidates list and the candidates' application documents, and it receives the admission results from the China Scholarship Council (CSC). The definition comes from section V (Application Process) of the Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship, published by the China Scholarship Council (Campus China). Definition

Section V of the guide places the term in three steps:

  • Step 3: "An applicant shall reach an application receiving agency for a recommendation."
  • Step 5: "The application receiving agency shall submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents."
  • Step 7: "The CSC will notify the admission results to the application receiving agency that will subsequently have the applicant informed."

What the official text says

Section I describes four scholarship categories. For each one, it states where an applicant files:

I (I) Bilateral Program With the dispatching department of their home countries
I (II) University Program With Chinese universities undertaking this program
I (III) Designated Scholarship Programs With the international organizations and institutions concerned
I (IV) Student Exchange Program With Chinese universities and their foreign partners

The table in section I (III) names an application receiving agency for each of five designated programmes:

Section V, step 2 states that the applicant reaches the designated university for admission documents. Step 4 states that the applicant fills in and submits the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System.
