Unofficial entry · Sources checked

A China overview course (中国概况) is a course on China's conditions and culture that Article 16 of the Measures for the Administration of Schools Recruiting and Educating International Students (Order No. 42 of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security) makes compulsory in higher education degree programmes. The Chinese language course is named in the same provision. See also Universities and degrees on this site.

Definition

  • Article 16 of Order No. 42 names the course in the phrase 汉语和中国概况 (Chinese language and China overview).
  • Section 6.2 of the Quality Standards for the Higher Education of International Students in China (Trial) uses the category name 中国概况类课程 (China overview courses).
  • Part 1 of the same Quality Standards sets out the understanding of China as a learning requirement, without naming a course.
