University Program: the Chinese Government Scholarship route through a designated Chinese university

University Program is one of the four program types listed in Section I of the Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship, published by the China Scholarship Council (Campus China). Under this program, applicants file with the Chinese universities that undertake it. See also Scholarships on this site.
Definition
Section I, item (II) states that the program is designed to finance the study of talented international students in China. It states that the supporting student categories vary and are subject to the requirements of each university. It states that an applicant shall file an application with Chinese universities undertaking this program.
What the official text says
Section II, item (I) states that Chinese Government Scholarship programs sponsor undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.
Section II, item (III) states: "Designated Chinese universities offer scholarship recipients academic programs in science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts, among others." It refers readers to the Campus China website for further information about designated universities and the majors they offer.
Section V sets out the application process in seven items:
- Learn about designated Chinese universities and the majors they offer. Identify the preferred scholarship program, designated university and major.
- Contact the designated university for admission documents.
- Contact an application receiving agency to obtain a recommendation.
- Fill in the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online. Submit it through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System.
- The application receiving agency shall submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents.
- The China Scholarship Council (CSC) will organize designated universities and experts concerned to examine applicants' eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates.
- The CSC will notify the admission results to the application receiving agency, which will subsequently have the applicant informed.
