Pre-admission document: the university paper some scholarship applicants attach

Unofficial entry · Sources checked

A pre-admission document is a paper issued by the university an applicant applies to. Item 7 of section VI of the Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship requires all applicants to provide one, and it gives a pre-admission notice and an invitation letter as examples. The guide is published by the China Scholarship Council on Campus China, and the requirement is a condition of the Chinese Government Scholarship, not a general admission rule. For the wider process of getting admitted and assembling papers, see Admission and documents.

Definition

A pre-admission document is a document that the applying university issues before the scholarship application is made. Item 7 of section VI names the document as a requirement and lists its forms. The guide sets the requirement for the scholarship only.

What the official text says

Item 7 of section VI reads, in the guide's English text:

  1. Pre-Admission Documents. All applicants must provide a pre-admission document issued by the universities applying. Pre-admission documents include pre-admission notice issued by the international students' admission department or invitation letter from the schools or professors, etc.

Item 7 uses the words "include" and "etc.", so the two forms it names are examples, not a complete list.

Section V, step 2 of the same guide describes where the document comes from in the process:

  1. Step 1 of section V says the applicant learns about designated Chinese universities and majors, and identifies the preferred scholarship programme, designated university and major.
  2. Step 2 of section V says: "An applicant shall reach the designated university for admission documents."
  3. Step 3 of section V says the applicant shall reach an application receiving agency for a recommendation.

Section V, step 4 says the applicant shall fill in and submit the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System.
